Project Solutions Engineer

This is a fulltime first shift position (Monday – Friday) 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Position Overview:

The Project Solutions Engineer serves as an in-house engineering resource for the Business Development and Project Sales teams, with a focus on reviewing opportunities early, strengthening technical recommendations, and helping move qualified projects from initial review to a clearly scoped, specifiable solution. This role is intended to provide practical engineering judgment, support customer-facing technical credibility, and help give the buyer or specifying engineer confidence in EFG’s design recommendations.

The position supports the BD team by reviewing project information as opportunities come in, commenting on design considerations, identifying risks or gaps, and helping determine whether EFG’s recommended solution is technically appropriate. The role should keep the BD team involved in the customer relationship while reducing the time spent on detailed technical review, design interpretation, and engineering coordination.

For candidates with Professional Engineer licensure, this role may include responsible review and stamping of applicable project work once the individual has developed sufficient familiarity with EFG’s process, standards, products, and internal controls. Use of a professional stamp must be based on sound engineering judgment, proper review, and comfort with the scope of responsibility.

Duties would include but not limited to:

Responsibilities:

  • Review specifications, drawings, and project data early in the opportunity process to evaluate feasibility, application fit, and technical risk.
  • Provide practical design comments and engineering recommendations that support BD discussions with buyers, engineers, and project stakeholders.
  • Help translate customer needs, site conditions, and project requirements into technically sound, cost-conscious system solutions.
  • Assess hydraulic, civil, electrical, structural, and site-specific considerations to identify concerns before proposals or recommendations are finalized.
  • Prepare early-stage documentation, including technical summaries, design assumptions, equipment recommendations, review notes, and preliminary layouts.
  • Prepare design reports, engineering review packages, and supporting documentation for review by external engineers or other qualified reviewers.
  • Participate in client calls, site visits, pre-bid discussions, and engineer-facing conversations when technical credibility or clarification is needed.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Project Sales, internal engineering resources, and external subject matter experts to refine defensible system designs, proposal strategy, and project handoff.
  • Support responsible engineering review of applicable project work, including stamped work where appropriate based on licensure, review standards, and scope of responsibility.
  • Maintain current knowledge of EFG products, component manufacturers, industry standards, and application best practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • Active Professional Engineer license required or strongly preferred; Civil PE or PE with directly relevant water/wastewater, municipal infrastructure, pump station, or site development experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in civil, water/wastewater, pump station, utility, or infrastructure-related engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to review plans, specifications, submittals, and project requirements and provide practical engineering recommendations.
  • Comfortable working directly with Business Development and Sales teams in a fast-moving opportunity environment.
  • Ability and willingness, where properly licensed and supported by adequate review, to take professional responsibility for applicable engineering work.
  • Solid understanding of pumps, hydraulics, site layout considerations, and project design coordination.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and judgment skills.
