Wood Island Landfill in Munising, MI
HDPE Dual-Containment Leachate Pump Station
Application Overview:
We worked with GFL Environmental Inc. to design a dual-containment HDPE leachate pump station for the Wood Island Landfill. With the harshness of the leachate, HDPE and its 100-year design life was the perfect fit for the landfill application. The wet well, meter vault, and fiberglass controls building were all built at our Cleveland facilities and shipped up to the site on oversized loads ready to connect once they arrived.
Pump Station Details:
The station has a 10 ft. diameter by 20 ft. deep wet well with a 6 ft. ID interior liner for dual-containment. Two 10 HP KEEN submersible stainless steel pumps, pump leachate to a separate above ground storage tank. It is all controlled from a custom prefabricated 10 ft. by 8 ft. by 8 ft. fiberglass building with dual rooms. One for the mechanical piping and valves and one for the controls with an additional 8 ft. diameter by 10 ft. deep HDPE flow meter vault ahead of the pump station.
Installation:
The installation was completed by Landmarc Environmental Systems with Excel Fluid Group as shown below:
