Electrical AutoCAD Drafter

This is a fulltime first shift position (Monday – Friday) 8:00 AM 4:30 PM

Position Overview:

The Electrical AutoCAD Drafter (Entry Level) supports the Electrical Engineer and project team by creating and maintaining accurate electrical drawings and related documentation. This role focuses on learning company drafting standards, using AutoCAD, and applying strong attention to detail to produce clear, consistent deliverables. Work is performed under supervision with increasing independence as skills develop.

Duties & Responsibilities would include but not limited to:

  • Create and revise electrical drawings from markups, sketches, redlines, or engineering direction (e.g., single-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and basic installation details).

  • Set up drawings using standard templates, layers, title blocks, symbols, and naming conventions; maintain drawing organization and readability.

  • Update drawings for engineering changes, field feedback, and as-built documentation; support revision control and drawing logs as directed.

  • Assist with creating and maintaining symbol/parts libraries and simple bills of materials (BOMs) when requested.

  • Perform self-checks for completeness and drafting quality (dimensions, notes, callouts, labeling, and basic coordination between sheets) before submitting for review.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Project Management, and Production/Shop personnel to clarify markups and verify drafting requirements.

  • File, publish, and distribute drawing packages in required formats and follow document control procedures.

  • Follow safety, quality, and confidentiality expectations while learning applicable codes/standards and internal best practices.

Skill Requirements:

  • 0–2 years of related drafting/design experience (internship, co-op, or academic projects acceptable).

  • (Preferred) Certificate/Associate degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; exposure to AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic electrical drawings/markups (single-lines, wiring diagrams, panel schedules/labels) with guidance.

  • Understanding of drawing standards, layer management, title blocks, and revision practices (or willingness to learn quickly).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) for communication and documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to follow instructions and standards.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable asking questions and incorporating feedback.

Preferred (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with PDF markup/review tools and basic document control practices.
  • Familiarity with common electrical components and terminology (wire/cable, conduit, terminal blocks, breakers, sensors).
  • Exposure to ERP/BOM processes or maintaining parts/symbol libraries.
